	Linking Person Centred Reviews and the “Four Pathways” 4/03/2011 As the Getting a Life project has progressed, more local areas have become aware of the pathways and the approaches that can lead to better outcomes for young people with a learning disability. 	Person-centred Assessment Training in North East Lincolnshire 4/02/2011 The North East Lincolnshire Getting a Life team held a two-day person-centred assessment training course on 3-4 February. Jonathan Ralphs (Helen Sanderson Associates) led the course, which was attended by 16 members of staff from a variety of organisations working with young people with learning disabilities in the area, including schools, colleges, Connexions and the local authority transitions and adult social care/health services. 	Transition Employment Support Officer in North Tyneside 26/11/2001 North Tyneside employs a Transition Employment Support Officer to support young people with learning disabilities at Beacon Hill and Woodlawn schools to think about future jobs and careers. This role is funded until December 2011, through the National Transition Support Programme (TSP) grant. The North Tyneside multi-agency joint Getting a Life and TSP project team identified the need for the role through a gap analysis exercise. More>>
	Getting a Life project launches in North East Lincolnshire 18/01/2011 Getting a Life project for North East Lincolnshire was officially launched in Cleethorpes. Over 60 delegates attended the event, including young people with learning disabilities, families, carers, local support groups, colleges and schools, the local authority and the Care Trust. More>>
	Hayley and Sydonie’s stories in North East Lincolnshire 18/01/2011 Hayley Wright, 22, got the job at Jobs4All through the Work Step programme and Jobcentre Plus. Before working at Jobs4All, Hayley worked as a volunteer. Sydonie, 20, had a yearlong work placement as an administrator for Shoreline Housing but unfortunately this did not lead to a paid job. 	Development Programme in North East Lincolnshire 18/01/2011 Staff from eighteen organisations in North East Lincolnshire have now attended job coach training as part of the Getting a Life development programme. In addition, the first two days of a four-day person-centred transition review training course have taken place with 20 staff members from a range of different organisations involved in supporting young people with learning disabilities. 	Leadership Programme in North East Lincolnshire 01/2011 Young people involved in the Getting a Life project in North East Lincolnshire will be taking part in a leadership programme, designed to tackle the fact that lots of young people with learning disabilities don't see themselves as people who can work. 	Dragons' Den Gets a Life - Manchester 11/01/2011 On 25th March, young people taking part in the Getting a Life programme will be pitching their skills and interests to local employers in a “dragon’s den” style event. More >>
	Volunteers Sought for Peer Mentoring in North Tyneside 4/01/11 The Newcastle Evening Chronicle and the Newcastle Journal featured a story about mentoring opportunities for young people to work alongside learning disabled peers, to support them in thinking about their aspirations and work towards achieving fulfilling lives. 	Update to Chris' Story - ROC and Torbay 06/11/2010 In August, Chris started part time paid work at the Rainbow International Hotel in Torquay as a Catering Assistant, following a work experience placement there. So far, Chris has worked in the restaurant and in the kitchen, and he is looking to try out other roles in the hotel as well. More>>

	Stephen’s Story - Norfolk 01/11/2010 On 1st November, Stephen started a permanent paid job as a kitchen assistant at the Vauxhall Centre, a community resource centre in Norwich. He is thrilled to have this opportunity in a job he really loves, and is now working 9am-3pm 5 days a week. More >>
	North East Lincolnshire 6/7/2010 28 people from a range of organisations and agencies involved with supporting young people with learning disabilities in North East Lincolnshire got together to plan the Getting a Life project and what they wanted to achieve locally. More>>
	Jobs First - 04/11/2010 This project works with 7 demonstration sites (some of which are the same as Getting a Life), to prioritise paid employment for the people taking part. Having a real job helps people to be included and lead a healthy, positive life. The project started in April 2010 and the project will run until the end of March 2011. More >>

	Paid after-school or weekend jobs for young people with learning disabilities in Manchester - 08/02/2010 Teenagers with learning disabilities do not always get the same opportunities for life experiences that other teenagers have, like having a part time job.
